A particularly scenic and technical loop route featuring a via ferrata section: the Giulio Gabrielli route.

This long and thrilling trekking itinerary includes the interesting and short Giulio Gabrielli via ferrata.

The route leads along the long and panoramic Cresta di Socede, reaching Passo Socede. From here, descend briefly to the junction for the Canalone dei Bassanesi, access route to Cima d’Asta.

From Malga Sorgazza, follow the gravel road to Teleferica Brusà, then take trail 326 left to Forcella Magna. From the saddle, continue on trail 326 to the junction with trail 375. After a few more minutes on the mule track, the via ferrata section begins.

Once at Passo Socede, descend 70 meters to the right to the signpost for the Canalone dei Bassanesi alpinist route.

Follow a faint trail toward the south face of Cima d’Asta, arriving at the base of the Canalone, framed by Punta di Lancia on the left and Torre Gillo Cavinato on the right. Climb the steep gully, following red trail markers up to the fork. Take the left branch to reach Bocchetta del Canalon (2,664 m). From here, turn right and climb the entire west ridge of Cima d’Asta—exposed in places with some grade I climbing—past WWI positions and the Cavinato bivouac (2,840 m), formerly a military observation post.

A few more steps lead to the summit: an extraordinary panoramic point overlooking the Lagorai, Pale di San Martino, Brenta Group, Ortles-Cevedale, Latemar, Catinaccio, Sella, Sassolungo, Marmolada, the Asiago Plateau, Mount Grappa—and, on especially clear days, even the sea and Venice Lagoon to the south.

Descend along trail 364, with a short assisted section.

Pass by Rifugio Cima d’Asta “O. Brentari”, then take trail 386 (Sentiero della Campagnazza), a rolling trail with mild ascents and descents leading to Forcella del Passetto. Turn right to descend back to Malga Sorgazza.
